Wonky???

I will be the first to admit that I don't do wonky well.  It is not something I have practiced or used much so my wonky is pretty rusty.  This is the first wonky house I made for Parthena today,

\

It is OK but not the most fantastic house I have seen,  I was able to trim this up to 12.5 inches.  I thought I would try again so I got this.

While I like it's simplicity it is too big at 14.25 by 15....................so I need to take the roof off and make it smaller.   I need to follow the tutorial or just get Gwen Marston's book out and take a look.

Back to the drawing board.  I am bound to make a decent one by the next guild meeting, right??

Update on Round 2...

Round 2 will start in June, so I thought it would be smart to start getting organized now...

I've made a few phone calls and sent a few emails...

So far, Hannah, Carla, Angela, Jessica, Whitney and Parthena have decided they're not joining us on the next round.

Toni, Nikki, Jaime, Paula, Andrea and Beth are in for another year.

Nancy, Steph, Denise and Caitlin are going to join us for the new round...

I've asked 2 or 3 others if they'd like to join us.  I'll let you know our final roster soon!  We will have 12 members and everyone in our bee will be KCMQG members.  This way, we can exchange fabric/blocks at our meetings and get to know each other a little better.

Get Your Wonkiness Going

Hello everyone,
For my month, I am going all wonky(kind of how I feel).  You are going to be constructing 12 1/2 in. blocks filled with wonky houses.  My family and I moved to a new home this year, as I know many of you have, so I thought it would be fun to have a quilt to commemorate this new beginning.

The fabric I will be handing out will span the colors red, orange, yellow, green and blue.  They are bright colors.  I will be handing out three  colors for you to do with what you will.  The blues and greens are more turquoise and limey but other greens and blues are welcome.  Feel free to add the two colors that are missing, or to use complementary colors from your scraps.

Please no batiks, and keep the fabrics bright.

I am pasting some sites down below for those who would like instructions.  One is for how to make an improvisational house.  The other instructions are for those of you who like to paper piece.  Make them as wonky as possible. :)

Touching Base... Updates... Round 2?

Hey, friends!

Just wanted ask if each of you could take a minute to email me and let me know three things:

1.  What's your mailing address?  Some people have moved and I should probably send out an updated spreadsheet.
2.  I know our year isn't quite over yet, but tell me if you have any interest in participating in another round of this bee.  It would last another year (from June of 2011 to May of 2012).  If not, it's not a problem, but I'd like to have time to find a replacement for you.  If so, let me know if you have a preference on which month you'd like to claim on the next go around.  *I think it's worked well that our KC Scrappy Bee members all belong to KCMQG, so I'd like to make that a requirement for all 12 members for the next round.*
3.  Would you like to continue with the same rules/guidelines from this past year (1 big block or two smallish blocks, sending a focus fabric and using scraps from our stashes unless otherwise stated by the hostess, bringing blocks to the meeting/picking up kits, etc.)?  Or do you have anything you'd like to change?

I personally have learned a LOT from you girlies and am really looking forward to another fun year of creating with you all.  If you're feeling like sitting out or moving on, just let me know.  No problem at all.

Thanks!!!!
Nikki

Addresses

Jessica, the candy cane block I promised got sent back.  Should have asked for your new address. Forgot you moved.   I'll bring to meeting.  Angela, since you moved hope you got the one I sent you. Carla, I  will bring your blocks to meeting. I'm making extra strips for you since I cut two of them wrong.  Ugh!  Sorry about that.  A baby sure does take up time to do other things. :)
